ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)- It was a very convincing win against ULM on Saturday night for Lobo Football. They accumulated 622 total offensive yards in route to their 59-17 victory. UNM is now over .500 on the season, now 4-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

This offense has continued to roll through 7 games, as they are averaging over 370 yards rushing and 40 points per game. They definitely put up some big numbers against the Warhawks on offense, but it’s the defensive numbers that are the most compelling.

The Lobo D has been struggling this year and finally on Saturday night they had a good game.

“It feels great especially getting 2 wins in a row that feels even better, but just seeing how our defense played tonight just gives us that much more hope and momentum”, said UNM CB Jadon Boatright.

Jadon recorded a 40 yard pick 6 for the Lobos first touchdown of the game. UNM would have 2 turnovers in this game with 5 sacks, and they only allowed 235 total yards. That is a major improvement and now just 2 wins away from 6 on the season. The Lobos will need to remain consistent on defense if they hope to make it to a second consecutive bowl game this year.

“We are going to play a lot better offenses down the stretch, but from a schematic standpoint ULM is a lot like what Hawaii and Nevada and really Utah state will be so hopefully we can get on here defensively”, said UNM Head Football Coach Bob Davie.

The Lobos now head to Hawaii to take on the Rainbow Warriors on Saturday. That game is set to kick off at 10 pm.
