ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – All the Lobos had to do was offer Albuquerque High junior forward Marlon Cunningham.

He already had his mind made up where he wanted to play college basketball. It was made up a long time ago.

“Honestly since I was 4-years-old and my grandpa and my mom would be taking me to Lobo games, just seeing the crowd, seeing Danny Granger play, Roman Martinez and all those greats, I just would really like to play under those names,” said Cunningham.” I want to just play and make my own name in The Pit.”

That sounds like the words of a very happy basketball player.

“Oh I am real excited,” said Cunningham. “My freshman year I got to play in The Pit when we went to state. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to play last year due to transfer rules. I am really excited to play in front of Lobo fans. It’s a crazy atmosphere. When you can’t even here yourself think when you’re playing, that’s something great to play in.”

Cunningham played his freshman season with varsity at Sandia High School. He transferred to Albuquerque High for his sophomore season and had to sit out on varsity because of it.
