ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)- With Cullen Neal not returning to the Lobos this season finding a replacement was priority number one for this Lobo Basketball team. Coming into this year it seemed like there would be a battle between sophomore Jordan Hunter and freshman Jalen Harris.

“I think the point guards are pretty well set. They are going to split time and just who is ever playing well”, said UNM Basketball Coach Craig Neal. “So both of the guards will be getting time on the floor, and it’s because they both bring specific skill sets to the position.”

Jordan Hunter will most likely get the starting nod as he is more seasoned playing in 28 games last year. Hunter is very smooth on the court and showed last year that he can run the point. He comes into this year more confident and hungry to work hard.

“I am feeling a lot more confident this year. I am not really hesitant about my game anymore. I am just trying to come out and compete every day and I am definitely ready to play this year”, said Jordan Hunter. “I feel like more of a papa this year, last year I was just kind of the guy just sitting watching Tim Jacobs and Cullen go to work.”

The whole program is really excited about this young freshman though, as Jalen Harris has brought in enthusiasm and a lot of speed. Tim Williams said in a previous interview that Jalen is one of the fastest players he has seen with the ball, and Jalen believes he has other attributes that make him a solid point guard.

“I see the court very well in my opinion and I feel like I can get people involved when they are down I can pick them up. Just help the team anyway I can”, said Harris.
