ALBUQUERQUE N.M. (KRQE)- The Lobos are now 3-8 on the season after dropping their game with 23rd ranked Arizona on Saturday in Dream Style Arena. This loss marks the Lobos 4th in a row, and Head Coach Paul Weir was not happy with his team’s performance in the 1st half of this game.

“We got a lot of work to do on defense. That first 20 minutes was among the most embarrassing 20 minutes I’ve had in my career in coaching. It’s unacceptable and it has to change. You can’t spot potentially the number one team in the country 16 points at half and expect to come back”, Said Paul Weir.

It was definitely a tale of two halves for the Lobos on Saturday night. They looked like a completely different team in the 2nd half, and leading the charge was the birthday bow, Dane Kuiper. Kuiper dropped a career high of 24 points on his 21st birthday. “Every time I had an open shot I just took it and took it with confidence. My teammates found me and having it on my birthday kind of…. I said I am either going to foul out or score a lot because I am so excited”, said Kuiper.

In the end it’s just hard to win a game when the Lobos shoot 38.7% from the field and 35.3 percent from 3, and Arizona finishes shooting 64% from the field and 69.2% from 3.

The Lobos will now move on to host Rice on Tuesday that game will be at 7:30pm.
