ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Cibola Cougars had a good start in the East vs. West Classic. Quarterback Gannon Chavez had 248 first half passing yards as his team went into the half with a 19-14 lead.

The La Cueva Bears came out in the second half and took control of the game, limiting the effectiveness of Chavez and getting on the scoreboard. Bears quarterback Chris Campbell got into a rhythm. Once the Bears got the lead at 22 to 19, they never let it go. The Bears would win the game 31-26.
