ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – University of New Mexico women’s soccer coach Heather Dyche is excited about her opportunity to work with the U.S. Women’s soccer team at the Olympics in Rio De Janeiro.

Dyche will scout teams in Group F for possible match ups with the U.S. in quarterfinal play. She has taken care of all her immunizations required for health on the trip and is ready to travel.

Dyche will scout her first game August 4.

“Getting a chance to be involved with the Olympics is the pinnacle for me,” said Dyche.

“That staff and the way they do things is elite. My hope is that I learn more, come back better and that I bring that all back here to UNM,” said Dyche.

Dyche will be starting her second season at UNM this upcoming soccer season and has already noticed some things from her Olympic experience that will help the Lobos.

I’m already looking at the game differently and thinking about things differently and hoping about things we can implement here,” said Dyche.

“Anytime I can look at a player here and say this is the next level, then ultimately that benefits our program.”

Dyche will be away from her Lobos for 12 days but, she is returning in time for the first exhibition game of the season.

The Lobos first regular season home game will be rival New Mexico State on September 16.
