ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Ray Birmingham and his University of New Mexico Lobos started thr Mountain West Tournament Thursday by playing Nevada.

The Lobos opened the early lead when Chris DeVito singled to right in the bottom of the first inning. That allowed Luis Gonzalez to come home and score the first run of the game.

It was Gonzalez, with two on in the bottom of the second, who would send a bloop shot up the gut and into the gap in center to score a pair of Lobo runs to increase the lead to three to nothing.

Colton Thomson only needed a run for support. The Lobo pitcher dominated from the hill. He struck out 11 batters and only allowed three hits in a complete game shutout. The Lobos three to nothing victory earned them a 7pm date with the Air Force Falcons Friday.
