ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)– Kameron Barboa is a 17 year old amateur motocross rider. He is from Bosque Farms and has been riding motorcycles since he was 4 years old.

His mother says that Kameron was able to ride a motorcycle before a conventional bicycle. He took 5 years off to play on a traveling baseball team, but a couple of years ago he decided to return to racing.

Since then Barboa has achieved great success. In 2014 he qualified for the Loretta Lynn’s AMA Amateur National Championship and placed 29th overall. More recently he has 3 national podiums from the National Arena Cross Championships in Las Vegas, NV, and the ATVMC Ponca City National Championships with a third place finish overall.

His future goal is to become a professional motocross athlete, and Barboa is taking this dream seriously. He trains 6 days a week on the track and in the gym. He has also opted for home schooling instead of a traditional education, because it works better with his busy schedule.

He leaves for the Loretta Lynn’s Championship on July 22nd, and will race on the 26th. He does have sponsors, but anything would help Kameron and his family. This is an expensive dream to pursue and the Barboa’s are looking for donations or sponsorships.
