ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – University of New Mexico junior redshirt guard Elijah Brown is one of 20 players on the 2017 Jerry Wes Shooting Guard of the Year Award Preseason Watch List.

Brown led the Lobos in scoring last season behind 21.7 points per game and is excited about the upcoming season.

“I feel like we are pretty deep,” said Brown. “We got a lot of players especially young guys. We got guys who can come in and make an impact right away. I am excited to see what we can actually do.”

The Lobos start the season with an exhibition game November 2nd against Western New Mexico. Meanwhile, Brown will have to wait until April to find out if he wins the Jerry West Award.

The List will be trimmed down to 10 in February and down to five in March. The award will be presented April 7th at the ESPN College Basketball Awards in Los Angeles.
