ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – John Dodson will get what he has wanted the last six months when he steps into the octagon against John Lineker Saturday night.

Dodson has craved another fight since a triumphant return to the bantamweight division back in April. Dodson destroyed Manny Gamburyan in 37 seconds in that return.

It was good for a win, but bad for landing another fight in a timely manner. Dodson found it hard to get anyone to face him.

“It seems like everybody is ducking me,” said Dodson. “I’ve called out everybody and everybody’s names I have to continue to call out they’re like, not a good match-up. I’m not ready for that. If you’re a fighter, you fight.”

There might be multiple reasons why some fighters were not ready to face Dodson. He has his own ideas about it.

“Because they don’t want any concussions,” said Dodson. “They don’t want to get knocked out. They don’t want to be a part of my highlight reel.”

Dodson will take a 19-7 record into the main event of UFC Fight Night 96 in Portland. His opponent, Lineker is 28-7 and goes by the nickname “Hands of Stone”.

The main card is on Fox Sports 1 and has a 6 p.m. mountain start time.
