ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Isotopes started Tuesday night with hope still a part of their season.

The Isotopes find themselves within striking distance of first place El Paso in the PCL Southern Division with less than 20 games to go. As of Tuesday, the Isotopes had 15 games on the schedule and trailed El Paso by five and a half games.

The plan is to get closer and so far, the Isotopes have seized every opportunity. The Isotopes finished a sweep of the Fresno Grizzlies Tuesday night. Tom Murphy hit a two run shot in the bottom of the fourth inning to give the Isotopes a 3-1 advantage but, it would not last. The game would be tied after 9 innings and needed an extra frame to decide a winner.

Brandon Barnes hit a two run shot in the bottom of the 10th inning to unlock a four all tie and give the Isotopes a 6-4 victory. The win is their sixth in a row. El Paso lost to Utah Tuesday night 4-2. The Isotopes trail El Paso by five games with 14 to play. The two teams will start a five game series in Albuquerque starting Wednesday.
