SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico is known as a combat state and Tuesday it will host the latest installment of “Toe to Toe Tuesday.”

Unbeaten Bryant Perella and Cuba’s Yordenis Ugas are headliners of the Premier Boxing Champions Series card. The fight is taking place at Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino. Santa Fe’s Brandon Holmes is in one of six fights that will be part of the under card.

Holmes is well aware of what an opportunity it is to be a part of the card. The main and co-main event will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1.

“PBC is like the NBA of boxing,” said Holmes. “It’s a great opportunity and I am so excited.” Holmes will face Gene Perez of Belen in Tuesday’s fight. “He fought my brother,” said Holmes. “He fought him at their weight. My brother is a little heavier so I had to go up in weight to make this fight. It’s going to be a hard fight.”

It is worth the risk for Holmes who has a shot of making the broadcast Tuesday.

“I know just being in the positive light with these guys, just rubbing elbows with these guys is good,” said Holmes. “It’s going to open up a lot of doors and opportunities for me in the future.”

Holmes is heading into the fight with an 8-0 record. The card has a 6 p.m. start time.
