ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)- The Rio Rancho Bowling team is coming off a rocky road to the state title this year. They defeated Eldorado for the title after working their way up from the loser’s bracket. Now that they have the State Title, the team can compete in the first ever High School National Championships in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on July 30th.

“Being the state winner this year which wasn’t a given, coming through the losers bracket, we get the chance to go and compete against all the other high schools,” said Rio Rancho Coach Dana Miller-Mackie.
The team will be taking on the toughest competition the nation has to offer July 30th-31st, but they believe they have what it takes to be victorious.
“That’s a really good thing about our team is when it comes down to it we know we can fight for it and we are ready to,” said Natalia Tchiloynas.”I think we can pull it off. I am going there to win. I wanna bring a trophy home for New Mexico,” said Carson Opela.
As of now, the team is short on funds to make it out to the tournament, with it costing about $1,200 to send each of the eight bowlers going to the tournament.
